A gripping documentary about Frieda Darvel, who by entering a singing competion, is given a chance to escape her life of hardship and drugs among the homeless street children in Cape Town, South Africa.

Cape Town has around 3000 street children, 80 percent are boys, possibly because girls tend to become prostitutes and can afford accommodation. In 1993 there were more than 100 million street children world-wide. Today it is estimated there are more than 200 million.
